GST rate change (All you need to know)

• Government proposes two rate structures, 5% and 18%.

• GST on diamond will be 0.5%, gold and silver to have 3% GSt.

• Sin goods like Tobacco, Pan masala to tax at 40% slab rate.

• Everyday items like food, medicines and Education to have either 5% rate or Nil.

• Most services to remain under 18% slab. GST on insurance may be cut down to 5% or Nil from existing 18%

• ACs, TVs other appliances will be moved to 18% rate from existing 28%. Petroleum products to remain outside the scope of GST.

• The deadline to implement this is from Diwali as said by PM Modi in his today’s speech.

Vodafone idea share price up 9% after government considers AGR waiver

According to data from National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and National Stock Exchange (NSE), FIIs sold shares worth more than Rs 2,000 crore between August 18 and 22. During the same period, Sensex and Nifty rose by about 1%, while BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices jumped by more than 2%. This rise was made possible by purchases worth about Rs 10,000 crore by domestic investors.

Explaining the strategy on Nifty, Virendra Kumar of CNBC-Awaaz said that the first resistance is at 24981-25041 while the major resistance is at 25107-25161/25233. The first base is at 24789-24850 while the major base is at 24681/24711-24743.
