We see everything, but we are not able to see ourselves. And we will never be able to. Whatsoever you can see, know well that that is not you. Thus take one thing to be certain, that whatsoever you are able to see is not you. If you are able to see God, then one thing has become certain, that you are not God. If you have seen light within you, one thing is conclusive, that you are not light. If you have an experience of bliss within you, one thing is determined, that you are not bliss. Whatsoever has been experienced, you are not that. You are that which experiences.

So whatsoever becomes your experience, you are beyond it. Therefore it will be useful to understand one difficult point here, that spirituality is not an experience. Everything in the world is an experience, but not spirituality. Spirituality is reaching towards that which experiences all, but which itself never becomes an experience. It always remains the experiencer, the witness, the seer.

When there is no experience, there is no seeing; there is nothing seen and there is no object to be seen, and the witness alone remains

The search for this witness is spirituality

हम सब कुछ देखते हैं, लेकिन हम स्वयं को नहीं देख पाते हैं। और हम कभी नहीं कर पाएंगे। जो कुछ भी आप देख सकते हो, अच्छी तरह जान लो कि वह आप नहीं हो। इस प्रकार एक बात सुनिश्चित कर लें कि जो कुछ भी आप देख सकते हैं वह आप नहीं हैं। अगर आप ईश्वर को देख सकते हैं, तो एक बात तय हो गई है कि आप भगवान नहीं हैं। अगर आपने अपने भीतर प्रकाश देखा है, तो एक बात निर्णायक है, कि आप प्रकाश नहीं हो। अगर आपके भीतर आनंद का अनुभव है, तो एक बात तय है कि आप आनंद नहीं हैं। जो कुछ भी अनुभव किया गया है, वह आप नहीं हो। आप वह हैं जो अनुभव करते हैं।

तो जो कुछ भी तुम्हारा अनुभव बन जाता है, आप उससे परे हो। इसलिए यहां एक कठिन बात को समझना उपयोगी होगा कि आध्यात्म कोई अनुभव नहीं है। दुनिया में सब कुछ एक अनुभव है, लेकिन आध्यात्म नहीं। अध्यात्म उस ओर पहुंच रहा है जो सभी का अनुभव करता है, लेकिन जो स्वयं कभी अनुभव नहीं बनता। वह सदा अनुभव करने वाला, साक्षी, द्रष्टा बना रहता है।

जब कोई अनुभव नहीं होता, तो कोई दर्शन नहीं होता। न तो कुछ देखा जाता है और न ही देखने के लिए कोई वस्तु होती है, और केवल साक्षी ही रहता है।

इस साक्षी की तलाश है आध्यात्म।
